High to low altitude help on the Legend

I recently moved from Albuquerque, NM (alt. 5280 ft or 1 mile) to Portland, OR (50 ft or sea level) and wanted advice regarding changes and carburation. The bike feels starved (of course) but is still running well. Can I make adjustments myself or is a balance at the shop the best way to go? Also, would like to switch to the TORs I bought last fall. Any advice for sea level running is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, insufficient information...

What carbs are installed (Keihin or Mikuni), was the bike rejetted for higher altitude and/or has the intake system been modified?

Thanks Jim-
My bike isn't the only thing that is green. I am self-taught regarding maintenance, but have a strong inclination to learn. Good news is that I have the Haynes & Service manuals and more importantly this forum. Bad news is that I have no information regarding the previous work done to the bike.

What I know:
Keihin-CVKs with stock intake. First owner may have experimented as there is a plugged, one inch hole in the airbox.

After some reading, I assume I need to dig into the carbs to look at the needles and jets. I've never worked on carbs before, but no time like the present.

With the Keihins, you should have #38 pilot jets and #98 main jets for sea level/low altitude operation.

I'm pretty sure you'll have the stock N3RF needles because the Factory Pro needles would make it run like crap at higher altitudes.

Be sure to examine your pilot jets for crud very carefully! A slightly blocked pilot jet at 5000 feet is an advantage but a big disadvantage at sea level.

While you're on the subject, (and hoping I'm not hijacking the thread), what do you look for to indicate you've got the carbs dialed in? I'm going the opposite direction from greenmeanie. To 6000 feet with keihins, a K&N in stock box and straight thru peashooters. I'm using 95 main jets with idle 1 3/4 turns out. Seems to run pretty well. Should pilots be changed out as well? How smooth is smooth at idle. Thanks

BTW, I've gotten 46 to 49.5 mpg the last 4 tanks. Usually pretty close to speed limit cuz they patrol heavily around here 60 -70 mph

Talking Update

Just wanted to thank everyone for their replies and for this board in general. I was able to work on the bike this weekend (since it finally stopped raining) and used welshrob's proven setup to get the bike back on track. Now the bike runs smooth with very little popping on decel. BTW-my local dealer, Cascade Motosports in Beaverton, OR is super. Liz in parts set me up with jets and thruxton needles for under $40. It's so great to have the Legend running well again and I was thrilled to be able to pull the carbs and do the work myself. If anyone here is hesitant about doing your own work, plan on having patience and just go for it.
