Oil (again)

I know this has been covered before but for any new members who are about to do an oil change be carefull, the book says 4ltrs, I left my drainining for a whole week (the washers where missing when I removed the filter, the last person to do an oil change was Roberts Triumph in Yorkshire, bit naughty guys leaving the washers out) anyway it still only took 3.25ltrs and even then it was over the glass viewer.

Check out the threads on this. There are 2 drains plugs.....sounds like you drained using the one closer to the center. Take a look under the bike..you will see a 2nd drain plug closer to the side stand.

I just did an oil change on my Adventurer and I was surprised to find not 1, not 2, but 3 oil plugs! The 3rd was right behind the oil filter, which does absolutely no good if you find it after you have already removed the filter.....;-)

I thought on the later models (mines an 03) that there was just the one plug?

Hmmm, Take a close look under your bike and let us know. I have two plugs in a horizontal orientation and one vertical. Look carefully! I didn't even see the one behind the oil filter until I had changed the oil several times.
The first time that I changed my oil, I was wondering why the oil turned dark right away. I did not see the second plug and left about a pint of old oil in the case.
