TBS Handlebar risers for a Legend ??

Hello all,

I have another question regarding my neverending set up on my Legend TT. I did do a search but didnt find anything similiar. Maybe I missed something.

3 facts:
I have the TBS bars on mine for a cafe racer look.

The ride gets uncomfortable after an hour or so due to my excessive leaning on the bars. Basically the neck gets sore from looking up and the inside of my hands between my thumb and fingers get sore from me using the bars as partial support.

This gets worse when the mrs comes along and braking pushes her into me making the low stance on the bars even worse.

I do love the looks but I have to say, its not incredibly practical. Ive had the bike for about a month and a half and have already racked up 1500 miles so i do some long, all day trips.

What Id like to do is keep the TBS bars and bring them up to my level a little. I looked into thunderbird sport risers but the dealer tells me the yoke is different on the two bikes and whether they fit is a crapshoot. Im not concerned with pulling them back towards me because due to the angle on the forks, straight risers will pull them back a little anyways. Does anyone know where I can get some good risers around 3"? What are the specs on the bolts, and how is this done. I know the bars are 7/8" but what I dont know is the measurements on the riser bolts and if I can still use the (IMO nice looking) Triumph logo top clamp, which Id like to. Its very confusing. Some have threaded studs, some dont. Any help, as usual would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jim

The TBS risers should fit-- they work fine on my Adventurer and will give you about an inch rise in front.

Taller risers are a problem. There may be some aftermarket parts for 7/8" bars but you'll have to search for them.

Also, the bolts in the stock risers are JIS rather than DIN so you might not be able to find them long enough, but you can cut down the heads on DIN and make them JIS if you're desperate.

For that much rise you might consider having some spacers made up that are the same base diameter as the stock risers and bolt in from the bottom.

Jim

http://www.bike-teile.de/index.php?s...&teilid=430660 and http://www.bike-teile.de/index.php?s...&teilid=430661 I think that the price is 21.95€ each, so you habe to pay 44€ to have them both. All you have to do is ask there or find another breaker nearer you.

ok, one more question

When I ordered them, they asked me if I wanted the top clamp. I said no assuming that the clamp with the triumph logo that came stock on the legend will fit. Is this correct? Thanks again for any help, Jim

Jim
Shipping across the pond is pretty costly now.

I have these on my DRZ:

They are not very pretty if you end up stacking up the spacers to get the height you want, but they are cheap and they work well.

There is a high and a low superbike bar bend out that both raise and bring the bar ends back. My bike had the low bend when I got it (and has individual caps), too low and forward for my stubby armed 5' 10" reach. I did as Jimmy has suggested and ground the heads down on some longer bolts, then bought a box of fender washers. Recovering from a drop was an ideal opportunity to install the high superbike bend bars. Mucho better. Still need a bit more.

Had the wind help me out a few days ago (oy!) and the right bar is almost perfect (bent back and slightly up). I have been planning on a change to HD Deuce risers and a drag bar.

The HD risers are threaded for 1/2" bolts. The Triumph use 8 mm (almost 3/8"). Going to look for bushings, as I already have a 3/8" drill.
