OK, OK I know (now) I should have drained the carbs before mothballing the bike for the winter but hey - I'm not perfect!

Fact is the two outer drain-off points on the T'birds carbs shouldn't be a problem but the one in the middle? The dealer suggested laying a rag immediately underneath and just letting the petrol run out but that just doesn't feel right.

Anyone out there with any tips?

P.S. This is my first posting and wanted to start with something nice and easy - I've a lot to learn!

He is unfortunately correct. I have a 95 Speed Triple and a 96 Adventurer. I take a huge wad of shop towels and stuff as many as I can inbetween them. Then let it flow. It sucks, but I really don't know how else to do it.

The three times that I have put my 02 T-Bird up for the winter, I have put Stabil in the gas tank, rode around the subdivision once to mix it in with the gas, turned the petcock off and let the bike run until it quits. No problem at all in the spring when it is time to ride.

LITTLEJOHN does it the easy way....

It's also a good way to check that your carb floats are the same height -- if all three carbs go dry at once. :-D

You can normally get a cap from an aerosol can in under there. Just make sure it's not one of the ones that has a little hole in the centre.

The float bowl does not hold much fuel.

ps the other way is to attach a length of hose to the drain.
