Another lovely day for riding in the Houston area. Can't get enough.
Some folks have mentioned that their bikes seem to smooth out around 10k or 11k miles. I think this is true. I have just under 11k miles and the bike does seem to be shifting smoother and making less engine noise. Seems to want to rev quicker too.
Also, sometimes I can get a nice bark from the rear tire when I shift into second a little too enthusiastically.
Anybody else experience this?
I love my bike. Have I mentioned that already?

I hated mine the other week when I ran out of fuel and had to push it (why is it always uphill to the nearest fuel station?) - its at times like those you wish you still rode small bikes.
But this moring (the first spring-like day we have seen this year) I loved it to bits.
I will also hate it next week when I get the bill from my dealer for a full service, MOT and the other minor bits she needs pre new season. But the next day, weather permitting, I will be sure it was worth every penny.
Seriously though I recently went to a bike show, and we spent a lot of time scouting other bikes, as an eventual 'potential' replacement for T-Bird - Sure there were some nice bikes, but I am too short in the leg for a Tiger, too poor for a Rocket, and too be honest very few of the others had that special X factor the T has (for me, or even my wife)
At the end of the day, we both decided that we would rather spend some extra cash on what we have, getting her just how we want her, especially after getting some good quotes from a couple of co's on some custom made items (que basic agreement from wife to spend money on bike = me one happy bunny :-D )

Well it was another great day today so the wife and I went for a leisurely ride out in the country - to Brenham, TX for those of you familiar with the territory. A bit windy but still a great ride. A lot of bikes out today. I was the only Triumph in a sea of Harleys (and Harley clones). It seems that everwhere we went somebody had a comment or question about the Adventurer. I'm still getting used to that phenomenon.
Yep, a great ride and a great bike. And, Silk, I know what you mean by that "X factor". It's the thing that makes you turn and look back again after you've parked the bike. Gotta love it!

Ahh, I love my '96 Adventurer, even though the weather here in Chicago has been the pits the last few weeks. Except we had a glorious 55 degree day last Sunday ( before snow on Monday!). Got the Adventurer out for a 200 mile ride and remembered why I drove to K.C. last October to buy this beauty. My wife's 2001 Legend is always the "attraction" at gas stops or scenic overlooks. Even Harley types come over to admire the Legend's good looks and wonderful exhaust note (off road pipes).
After spending all my time on my trusty GS850 Suzi these years (50K+) I have finally found a bike (the wife's Legend) that I liked more than my Suzi. I had to find a Triumph Triple for myself, enter the Adventurer. These bike's are eyecatchers whereever they go. Truly the "X factor" in today's look alike Harley wannebe world.

I ran out of gas once. Then I turned on the reserve and rode it uphill to the nearest gas station.
Daddy-O, I have an 80 GS850 with 62k for sale now that I own this Fabulous Thunderbird.
It feels good to not ride a Hog or a Japanese impersonation of one. (No matter how much better the Japanese are.) This thing, looks, sounds, feels, and rides unique and smooth. I love the sound of a Turbo Diesel Singer Sewing Machine screaming by a V-twin bellowing Potatoe-Potatoe-Potatoe-Potatoe-Potatoe-Potatoe-........
