having trouble with saddlebags
just got a pair of new bags for my Adventurer!
the bags keep hitting the top of the pipes if I run the bike will the pipes burn the bags and the pipes get discolored?
I figure they will. I will try to shorten them some more as to not touch the top of the pipes. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Yes they will. And you could catch you bike on fire, depending on the material...

Go to the Rat NZ site and check out the photo of my Adventurer. Those bags did 1500 miles around our North Island and they just sit on top of the mufflers. Checked them a couple of times after some severe hill climbing. No scorching or signs of damage at end of trip.

Great news, cuba. I also had a friend whose S3 had a permanent flame job after his bags caught fire while sitting on the pipes.... your mileage may vary.

I've got a '98 TBS with the high pipes up one side and to use my trusty old leather saddlebags, I use a small cash tin under the centre strap, lifts the bags up just right. Only problem is I can't have a pillion now.

I have the Triumph fabric bags, they were pretty close to my muffler,(3into 1) on the rhs. I put some flashtack(sticky back foil stuff roofers use) on the bottom. I also found if I just put them over the seat they hang out and down more. If I fit them under the seat it tends to pull the tops of them in more and they dont hang as low. Hope that helps.

Thanks to all
The bags I got are leather I knotched out the leather around the the seat screws and was able to pull them back up the fender to get them off the pipes. There about 1" to 2" off the pipes. Now when I sit on the bike Im not sure if there touching.

I had the same issue and just built some simple brackets to keep the bags high enough so they don't sit on the exhaust.
