After taking the old lady for a ride on her fathers soft tail, she feels much more comfortable with a backrest/ luggage rack behind her...
Im having trouble finding any options for a 99 Thunderbird Sport. (lots for the "new" thunderbird)

Seems to be the first thing people remove from their bikes, does anybody have one laying around they would part with?? I'm trying to avoid buying a new one from triumph.

I have not seen any classifieds or other posts of people looking to get rid of one but if anybody knows of such a post, please post a link!

Thanks! ND

There wasn't much available as an OEM accessory for the TBS, to my knowledge. You had the grab rail, and possibly the (vestigal) luggage rack and taller sissy bar which were available for other T-Birds...but I've never seen one on a TBS, as you say.

I guess you could go with one of these: https://www.ventura-mca.com/Pack-Rack-Pack-Rack . My TBS came with one (and the corresponding mounts). The best I can call it is "functional"--ain't no beauty queen.

Not to be mercenary, but, exactly how badly do you want one? I have two bikes and two racks. Ultimately, I plan to sell one of the bikes, with or without the rack.

One rack is sort of "streamline" tubing made of aluminum (like the photo above, I think) and the other is round chromed tubing. I think either one will fit the TBS (the aluminum one is on the Legend right now); can confirm that for you. I'm sort of partial to the chrome one right now, but would have to think on that for a while.

I'm really more concerned about the backrest/cushion/pad thing. I'm not too concerned about aesthetics as it will only be installed for two-up rides. Send me a photo and let me know how much you want for it, if you would be willing to ship it. I'm located in New Jersey 08203.

I don't think it's the type of thing you'd want to be putting on and off frequently. The bolts holding it also hold the turn signals and fender to the rear frame, and when you pull them out everything gets out of alignment, IIRC.

I'm not sure what to ask for it. I don't know how much it was new, either, so I don't have much of a frame of reference. I'll try to get you some pictures.

Yep those are interchangeable between Legend, Thunderbird and Thunderbird Sport.

They are as rare as hens Teeth.

Sprint Manufacturing in the UK makes a nice aftermarket one.

There is another company that also makes one, but I can't recall the name of that company right now. I'll edit this post when I think of that.

As promised. I didn't realize until after I took the photos that the seat is sitting high and crooked. Also, the cushion has a few spots along the edge where the cover is worn through. It won't fall off but could use recovering if you're into aesthetics.
