Oh well, to each their own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thruxtons are 'dead meat' against the triples on Kiwi roads. Case in point, the succession of 15kmh curves heading up the saddles towards Whangamomona, and down the other side. James Bond's drowned Aston Martin would be burnt to a crisp! Let alone some recycled oil drum from Japan.

My TBS IS dead meat over my modified Thruxton. Furthermore it has no trouble staying with my chums 955i Speed Triple, with its 115bhp at the rear wheel.

When the (UK) Motorcycle News road tested and ran a feature on my Thruxton back in January, the road tester blew me into the weeds when he out accellerated me on my TBS.

Love mods. What modifications do you have to do to a Thruxton to get that kind of performance. I've ridden a stock one. Very dog like. Main reason why I went for the water cooled triple. Thought I would have more opportunity for performance enhancements. Love the look of all the new air cooled Triumph twins, but didn't think there would be opportunity for much reliable performance upgrades. Heat and high performance sometimes don't mix. Have owned modified air cooled Ducatis which ran at very high temperatures when not moving quickly.

Duct tape Ben down onto that Honda S90! start the engine and let's see how far away we can hear him scream!

I remember when the 90 was a huge step up from the 50 and the 125 was for hiways not neighborhoods. A 500 or 650 was BIG. My brother rode his Honda 150 from Charleston SC to Jacksonville FL on hwy 17 with no problems mentioned. Twas a different world in the 60's

anyone remeber the Sears Roebuck motorcycles? If memory serves me right they were 250cc...more of an enduro than a road bike......

Bah! You're all dead meat against Valentino Rossi on a Vespa 250 anyhooo.

Truth be told though...my Thunderasaki totally rocks with its 77 hp and I love it dearly.....but Speedy with 130 hp rocks harder

Talking

Ben, I think you need to look and see if your bike has all of its pistons. If a Thruxton will blow away your TBS there is something terribly amiss with that bike.

DEFINE SLOW.

To be slow, you have to have something to compare it to, which is much faster. My speed triple makes 136hp and is 40kg`s lighter. It will blow a TBS into the weeds! So you`re right they ARE slow.

But hang on a sec, it will also blow your 98hp engined TBS into the weeds. So it would seem that you have gone to a lot of trouble to create a bike that is also VERY slow. Why would anyone want to do that???

Accept the TBS for what it is. It`s a CLASSIC sports bike with beautiful lines and nice handling. And more than enough power to kill yourself or lose your licence on public roads.

Speak to 'Triumphant' in Wales, who on several occasions have fitted 147hp Daytona 1200 4 cyl engines into Thunderbirds. = Not Slow!
