Have no fear.

Was a piece of cake. Took about 1.25 - 1.5 hours. 96 Adventurer. Old clutch side bolt was polished flat from the aux drive gear

Things to consider before starting:

You will need:

New alternator drive cushions

New driveshaft kit

Clutch cover gasket

Alternator to engine case o-ring.

8, 10, 13, and T-30 sockets/drivers

A good manual that explians the alternator & clutch removal process

A 1/2" drive air impact or the special clutch basket removal tool(holds the baskets still but not needed if you have an impact)

A 30mm socket for the above clutch nut

I will post a reply with the Triumph P/N's later from home.

Push the new shaft thru from the clutch side and make sure the splines are lined up. Mine took a few good hits with a dead blow hammer.

The hardest part is aligning the aux drive gear back up with the main gear and pushing in the splined centering insert. Have a lot of patience there. Get up and take a walk a few times. You will get it after a few tries.

Good luck and sorry I didn't take any pictures.

I replaced the drive shaft on my '96 Adventurer last year, but I did not replace the alternator drive cushions, the clutch cover gasket, or the Alternator O-ring (although, for anybody attempting this job, it is a tight fit and I definately recommend having one).
Nor did I have or need a manual.

"Push the new shaft thru from the clutch side and make sure the splines are lined up. Mine took a few good hits with a dead blow hammer."

Mine pushed in easily with just a bit of wiggling.

"The hardest part is aligning the aux drive gear back up with the main gear and pushing in the splined centering insert."

I definately agree with this! In fact, I couldn't figure out how to get the clutch basket out until I used a strong magnet to pull this bushing out. I guess that is what the manual was for. LOL!
The kit cost me $90 and I was pleasantly surprised that the dealer had one on the shelf.
