I dropped my bike (2001 Legend) the other day and after paying for a new peg, I didn't want buy a headlight bracket as well.
The turnsignal stem just broke out a chunk of metal on the bracket. I was able to fix it with three washers. I went to the local Ace Hardware, and poked thru those bins of hardware. I found a stainless steel washer that fit the stem and the hole in the bracket. Then I used two larger diameter nylon washers, one inside and one outside. The nylon washers bend some, so everything is nice and tight.
It's my own fault for dropping the bike, I've had it about a week, and was in a hurry and forgot to turn the petcock on. At the top of my street is a roundabout, except for my street it has a stop sign. They don't know what a proper roundabout is here, I see people go the wrong way all the time. Anyways, I digress. I stopped for the sign, then started and the bike stalled, before I could pull in the clutch the bike slowly went over on the right side. I broke the right footpeg, headlight bracket, bent the brake lever bolt, and tiny scrap on the exhaust. I replaced the footpeg, modified the bracket and made loving adjustments to the bolt with a hammer.
Who designed the way the right footpeg mounts? It came apart easy enough, but it took me a while to figure out that I had to put a jack under the exhaust to get holes to line back up because of the rear support.
