Replacing the clutch hose

I am going to replace my brake lines with new ones from Spiegler. I'm thinking I might replace the clutch hose also. Is it difficult to remove. It looks like it snakes around behind the cylinders.

Spiegler doesn't carry a Tbird clutch line as a standard item, so they want me to send mine in so they can match it. How of the engine do I need to monkey with to get the hose off?

Thanks,
-Alan

Why would you want to change them are they chafed or corroded? The 2000 model year had braided clutch and brake lines as stock - these never need to be replaced unless damaged. The Speigler items will not be an upgrade, unless you want a different color.

Its fairly easy to remove the clutch line - but you need to remove the tank to do it. It is also notoriously a pain to bleed all the air out if you do replace it, but there is a knack (ask here for help if you do this). And don't get the fluid on the paint!

These are the original lines, and the Big T recommends they be replaced every four years. (It's a 2000 Tbird.) On the clutch line, the master cylinder banjo bolt has a bit of corrosion.

I had (still have) a ton of trouble bleeding the brakes. I hope the clutch would be that bad. I think the issue is that the brake pistons are gummed up. I am going to take it to the dealer as I can't seem to get enough time to mess with it.

The recommendation is a hangover from the first T3 classics that had rubber lines on the brakes - I would not bother changing unless you want to fix that corrosion (which might be rectified with the careful application of a little paint)

Cool. Good to know. I could maybe just put in a new banjo bolt. I'll look at it more closely.

a new banjo bolt would result in the need for a bleed - but would be a cheap fix
