How many miles have you guys normally gone before the chain is replaced. I have 38,500 miles on my chain and it still seems to be ok. I did the weight check that the service manual tells you to complete and its seem within limits. However, I was just wondering if anyone can recomend some good tools as far as chain brake as stuff. I have always cleaned and lubed the chain every week, so should it be replaced because of the miles on it or just keep checking the limits. Let me know what you guys think.

Chain life varies greatly from bike to bike, rider to rider and chain to chain. Its affected by many things including but not limited to how aggressively you ride, whether you ride in dusty or wet conditions, how often and well you clean and lube it, the condition of the sprockets and how high quality the chain is.

38k is very good for longevity, particularly for a stock chain. Most people report around 10-20k but I have heard numbers outside of that range either way

The spockets look good, so I was just concerned about if I should just replace it or keep checking on it. I do keep it cleaned and lubricated.

just keep an eye, when it starts to fail you will see it stretching quickly - often accompanied by red powder (rust) coming out of the links. I would advise that at this mileage you should change the sprockets when you do eventually do the chain. Also keep an eye out for tight spots appearing
