Headlight Bucket

Am I crazy, or does the Thunderbird Sport have a different headlight bucket then the Legend/Adv/T-Bird?

I like the TBS one better... too bad it's $60 from Bike Bandit!

Yeah - it is round and painted. My '96 Bird is contoured and plated. Kinda looks like an old Honda bucket.

They may have been different on other years. I am sure you could use one off a Bonneville also - try eBay

There were two shapes of headlight bucket used. The earlier T3 classics had a flatter - less deep bucket like those used on the Trident and T3 speed triple. I'm not 100% sure if the earliest TBS' had them or when the change point was but it changed before the 2000 model year.

My '98 TBS headlight shell is rounded and painted. It will interchange with Bonneville headlight shell. Also The flatter shaped style like Early TBird will interchange with it, although not the same.

Red face

My 98 Tbird came with the shallow chrome plated one but i soon replaced it with the later deeper painted one only because it was a nightmare trying to stuff all that wiring plus the headlamp back in .

Not necessarily strange, change points on parts often happen mid year.
