I bought my 1997 Triumph Thunderbird 900 a few months back and as it has been off the road for a few years decided to do some maintenance over the winter.
My mechanical knowledge is not good and it is my first bike for almost 20 years.
The first job that I took on was to replace the Air filter which I completed with difficulty but got there in the end. I also noticed that the carb to head rubbers were perished and set about replacing them. My question is; which side of the rubber attaches to the carbs and which to the head? One side of the rubber has a slightly wider diameter than the other which I have attached to the head. Am I right I n my assumption? I have fitted the original restricted rubbers. On the inside of the rubber there appears to be a sloped step on one side whereas the other side has a more pronounced step. Not sure which way round it should be fitted. I have fitted the sloped step towards the head. Hope this all makes sense. Any help and guidance greatly appreciated.
