Nology Ignition coils

Hi everyone. I needed to have a rant and rage and tell everyone of my dissapointment. I am so angry at the moment I need several beers and then a bottle of red.

I am sure that Nology Inc. are a fantastic company to do business with in the States. But in the UK it is pitiful.

After great help from you guys on the forum, my problem was diagnosed as a faulty coil. Number 2 cylinder to be precise.

Rather than order the "Gill" replacement from Triumph, I took your advice and ordered 3 Nology coils. This was from the UK distributor who are called "The Racers Edge". The guy there is Chris Good. I think it is one man and his dog. And the dog is running the show.

This is the story so far...........

Seven days ago I ordered these. Could not order from the web site, so had to e mail the guy. He quoted the part number, the price and said it was a stock item.

He then said he didn't take credit cards (although the website says they do). He said he only took Pay Pal.

Paid for the coils via Pay Pal. Was told to expect delivery Tuesday 19th.

No confirmation of order
No order number
No tracking number.......absolutely nothing.

Didn't recieve the coils. Rang and e mailed several times a day but no answers at all.

Still have had no contact from Chris Good.

He has my money - I have a broken TBS

I intend to take action via the Pay Pal resolution centre and Nology Inc. Meanwhile I will have to by a Gill coil from Triumph.

There is nothing quite as frustrating as bad customer service.

Anyway - had to get it off my chest............now about those beers

I would contact them directly and get them to rattle Racers Edge cage.

know the the horse has bolted for your nology (sorry to hear of your troubles)....but I often buy direct from the US, saving 20-40% over uk. They seem to have the plot a lot better re customer service, email confirmation, updates etc. nology, racetech, K&N, dynojet all came this way...didn't get hit for VAT or customs delays once (yet!)
Most companies will mark the value down too just in case !

One exception I found - bikebandit.com load all kinds of (unspecified) 'taxes' on at the checkout, shame , they look well organised.

Of course, I'm probably screwed if there's any Customs & Excise on the forum

ordering from the UK

Conversely, I've had great luck ordering from the UK (Sprint Mfg, Renntec, LampsPlus) and when they knock off the UK's VAT the price including shipping is also pretty reasonable. Rest assured, we have bad vendors over here too.

I would go back to PayPal for the resolution. They do have a tendancy to hang on to your money for several days though so you may get your product yet, even without any comminications.

Chin up!

tomsdad,

Sorry to hear about your troubles - there's certainly no excuse for The Racers Edge not to pick up the phone or return your calls/e-mails. Unfortunately it seems to be a somewhat regular occurrence with all the people selling motorcycle bits out of their garage - some are very professional and some are... not.

Not quite sure about the time frame of you order, and you may already know this but... PayPal takes 3-5 days to transfer money *out* of your account (longer if it's not a 'confirmed' account), and they may (I'm not sure) take a few days to transfer it into the vendors account*. So it's possible, even with a week gone by (and the money gone from your account), that the vendor hasn't actually seen the money and therefore hasn't sent your part.

Still doesn't excuse their lack of communication. But just FYI... sorry if I'm repeating something you already knew.

HTH.

*Of course, PayPal doesn't take 3-5 days to take the money from your account, they do that right away. But then it sits as an 'uncleared' transaction for 3-5 days. Why? PayPal will probably tell you it's for security reasons but my guess is it's because they earn interest off of that money while it's sitting in *their* bank account.

Made a complaint to Nology via their web site.

Then had a call from the UK distributor. Not pleasant. He now says he dosen't want to supply the coils and will refund my money.

I can't believe that Nology Inc have put their UK business in his hands.

So after 10 days of hearing nothing, at least I hope to get my money back.

Meanwhile my TBS needs coils.

Try Sprint Manufacturing

http://www.triumphparts.gbr.cc/

They list the Gill coils for triples and the PVL coils for 1200s. They might not be able to advertise the PVL (Nology OEM) so ask them.

Else, maybe the US distributor will sell them to you now since their guy went off the deep end. It's amazing how many problems a little communications can prevent.

Good Luck!

On buying from the US:

The shipping company you choose can have an effect on whether you have to pay duties or not. I've sold a lot of stuff through ebay over the years and had a few overseas customers complain about tariffs & broker fees when I had shipped via UPS. As far as I know, nobody ever got hit for tariffs when the package was shipped via regular United States Postal Service.
