Chopper tail on Adventurer

Just got a 2001 Adventurer. Nice bike. Pulls real hard between 6000-8000 rpms. Hate the Bob tail. Picked up a chopper tail only 8" wide. Think it will fit. Want to keep tail clean looking. Maybe small light mounted on top of fender or light under fender. Chopper light and license bracket on axle looks a little too chopper. Any ideas. Will try to send pics of bike and rear fender.

My brother in law just picked up a 99 black Legend to go with his 2003 Thunderbird. I hate him.

I kinda agree about the tail on the Adventurer .. when it is naked. Mine has the Triumph cissy bar and small back rack. They make sense of the whole thing and it looks soooo much better.

Mine has single seat which makes bobtail even more pronounced. Also has lots of chrome and TBS breathers. Thought is to go total chrome with bike and chop the tail with single seat. Thought about using TBS single seat and cowl but Adventurer has different rear subframe with different seat mounts and no support for cowl. I just sold my Ducati monster which I tail chopped. Tail has got to go. I can here the dremel revving up. Buell S3T is going to stay stock. I've got to have a project bike. Will send pics when daughter finds camera UBS line she lost.

Check my album section under rear fender chop. Don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for, but may give you some ideas.

You can just bolt the rear subframe from one of the other classic T3's on if you want - the subframes are not welded on like they were with other T3's. This would be a very simple mod to do with used parts.

The rear subframe swap is the way to go. I have already done this and I am now waiting for the solo seat. This will involve another mod due to the new rear being a standard thunderbirds. Thats why you keep a spare bike around though. There are a couple of subframes on Ebay now. You should be able to get one delivered for less than $200.
Happy Hunting

Really? I don't see any 'classic' subframes on ebay, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

If anyone is looking to get rid of an Adventurer sub-frame (that fits a solo seat) I might be interested...

Here is a TBS subframe, it's in Europe though. From http://www.bike-teile.de i found parts to my bike. Babelfish is a big helper for those who don't speak german.

Here is my bike and fender I am considering. Biggest problem is what taillight and license plate bracket. Live in VA so they must be DOT approved. No little lights. Love the TB subframe switch but I'm really not looking for the Cafe look. Probably more of a cool cruiser look.
How cumfy is the TBS seat and cowl. Want a cumfy seat for my seat.
