The last 6 digits of the VIN are 172794 anyone got a higher number than that? Or are the numbers different for different countries?

I have a "V-check" form from QLD Transport, which shows how many owners the bikes had, if it`s been written off etc. It states the year of manufacture is 2004.

Now what puzzles me is I have an 07 speed triple. It`s classed as an 07 because they were different to the 06`s. The vin number says it`s an 07 build model but I purchased it in Dec 06, so the compliance and "V check all say it`s 06. I`m getting confused, now.

Rob,
My '04 has a VIN of 191706 and I know of a few higher than that.

Check on the right side of the steering head.
It should have a label with the Date of Manufacture on it

The label on the headstock of my TBird states the date of manufacture.
It's right there near the serial number on the Label, what does that say?

We don`t have them. On the right side of the headstock is a label with the vin on it which declares the pipes produce 94db at 4000 RPM. as per this pic...

On the left hand side of the headstock is the compliance plate, clearly showing it was complianced on 02/04. Whilst it has been pointed out that it could have sat in customs for a long time, my Speed Triple was complianced within 4 weeks of the manufacture date.

I have decided it`s an 04 and that`s the end of it. Any arguments and I`ll fight you like a mad Gypsy with a knife between my teeth!

You are clearly confused Rob. That second picture actually is the manufacturers plate, and I would say that yes it is definitely an 04 model

looks like it was manufactured in Feb of 2004.

Those labels are different from my US models.

Yes, I often get confused! So it looks like they cobbled it together from some spare parts lying around in February 04. I think I preferred the Hugh Jackman rumour...

I`ve fulfilled a 10 year old dream by buying this bike and it`s making me VERY happy! I wouldn`t part with it for anything. Well, ALMOST anything! Maybe some rich T-bird enthusiast who wants a very rare mint 04 model would like to offer me more than I paid for it...

My guess, and sorry to shatter your dreams Rob, is that the compliance sticker has nothing to do with Triumph and it is installed by the importer at the time the bike arrived in the country and not at the time of manufacture.
Just going by your VIN, it had to come off the production line before mine.
