Owners Manual '98 TBS

Ive recently added a '98 TBS to my garage but the previous owner no longer had the original Owners Manual. Before I contact my local Triumph Dealer, does anyone have an extra that they do not need?

Is there a better/cheaper place to find them than my dealer? Im not a big fan of the Clymers/Haynes manuals, but I guess I may go down this road if I have to. I already have a Service Manual though.

Thanks,
Mike

Owners manuals occasionally show up on eBay. How do you like the bike so far?

Watch the service manual for errors. Just a few, but I found something (can't remember at the moment) that was way off and had to look at other manuals to confirm a reasonable torque. Save yourself some time, and go through the torque ratings for fasteners and post the converted numbers (to ft/#). I'd do it while the boob tube is on (not going to miss much). You'll find that a dozen or so conversions covers just aobut all of them.

Thanks for the tip regarding the torque conversions. That sounds like a good thing to do while the ol'lady is watching Amer.Idol tonight.

I'll also keep searching eBay for a manual, but Im not too confident one will pop up anytime soon.
I may find that velvet Elvis/Hendrix poster Ive always wanted before a TBS Owners Manual .

Regarding the TBS, it is an absolute blast to ride and much better than I had expected. Especially since I had never put a leg over one before, so I was taking a bit of a chance. Its a great sickle and I couldn't be happier with the new addition. I actually bought her from a member on this board (pbbeck) - excellent transaction I might add (Long Beach, CA to Atlanta, GA).

Particularly be careful of the Haynes manual, there are a few serious errors and omissions in there. Best bet is to get the factory one or both, but also apply common sense to what you read in either.

Mick, Which manual would you recommend? I've been looking to bite the bullet and buy a shop manual for my legend. As I read it you say the factory manual is a better bet?

Sorry for the thread hijack...

Depends on your experience level but yes the factory manual is better IMO. If you are a less experienced mechanic you might be better off with the Haynes one though as it covers some things in more detail and shows you how to get around using factory tools. The ideal situation would be to have both. I only have the factory manual but have read through a friends copy of the Haynes manual.

I haven't spotted anything seriously wrong in the factory manual (i.e. bad torque conversions) but I have noted an odd minor error or two. In the Haynes manual (IIRC) they give you the wrong torque for the oil drain plug - way too high.
