Fuel economy ???

What fuel economy should I expect from 02 Thunderbird with 3 into 1 sports exhaust ? I'm currently getting 180 Klms before reserve. Doesn't sound too good to me. Curious to know what you blokes and sheilas are getting.

I can get 220ish km before I hit reserve.

My stock (jetting, gearing) Adventurer gets about 135 miles (217 Kms) before hitting reserve.

To maximize your 'kms to reserve' you need to lower your rear suspension and raise the front suspension.

Riding uphill continuously will also increase that figure but riding downhill can cause an early switch to reserve.

What about living on a small island like I do?

If I ride in a counter clockwise direction around the island, more fuel gets forced to the right side of the tank and hits reserve earlier.

Quite true, but I'm sure Coriolis Force would become a factor.

Consider: If you were at the equator your average velocity would be about 1037 mph but including the earth's orbital velocity at about 67,000 mph makes a considerable difference.

Assuming that you filled the tank, left the cap open, parked the bike and didn't start the engine and also guesstimating that it would take 1 year for the fuel to evaporate down to the reserve level, then you'd be getting about 591,869,066 miles to reserve.

That's about 954,627,526 km to reserve and much better than I get by riding my bike.

Jim

I get about 95-100 miles before hitting reserve with stock jetting. I feel the fuel economy is lousy........

How many miles can you get after you hit reserve? That's what I want to know.

Something very wrong there.. I normally get 150-160 before reserve, I have had it go as far as 185 before switching.
