Question T-Bird Luggage Rails

I recently purchased 2 chrome luggage rails for my '02 Thunderbird. I don't have any instructions for them. Does anyone know where they go? I have an idea but didn't attempt yet. I think they attach to a Black hole midway under the seat and then the screw towards the the back on the rear fender. Anyone have these??

Hey mate, unless someone here has a TB, you might have better luck on the Hinckley Classics forum. Someone there is bound to know.

Merry Christmas,

Hi B&S Tbird,

Roden is quite right and you would be best to ask in the Hinkley Classic Triples section.
However, I also have a Thunderbird and can point you to an old post that may help?
See http://www.triumphrat.net/hinckley-c...tructions.html

Good luck, and hope to see you soon in the Hinkley Classic Triples forum.

The ones I have on my bike fit using the rear footrest bolt and then to a fitting point just under the seat. If you line up with the rear footrest and the top part of the rail is parallel with the seat the hole should be obvious.

Happy New Year from Scotland

Are you sure those rails are for the later model T-Birds? Sounds as if you have a pair for the earlier (pre 99) machines which won't fit the later models like yours.

I had the exact same issue with my 2000 Legend. You have the wrong part, but you can make it work. I ended up using 4" steel brackets to secure the upper rail to just under the seat. I painted the steel black and if I didn't know they were there...It's been just fine. The alternative was spending $300.00 at my Triumph dealer. I made the right call.

Are the Triumph Made rails? I have seen a few non factory rails which fit differently? If they are factory made then sounds like you do indeed have the rails made to fit the earlier models with the hinged seat, slight difference, the correct rails fit to the hole at the side of the seat as you have said and then to the rear of the footrest.

T-bird rails

Sorry all you guys for not responding till, now....Holidays!!!!!!! crazy........ The rails I purchased from British Customs were for the T-bird but possibly for the older models, mine is an '02. Anyway I could fit on top fender just under seat BUT I will have to drill hole for mounting. A steel bracket placed under the fender for support might the best idea. The other end of the rails will mount fine on rear foot peg bolt. I hate the thought of returning these if I can addapt them to my Triple.
