Help, it will not even turn over.

I was driving my 2000 legend, when it lost power. I pulled over to the side of the road and tried to restart, but no luck. After I got it home I pulled it apart but found nothing, the solenoid seems to be good so I jumped that and got it to turn over. There is no power in the on/off switch. Checked the spark from the coils, but there was none. Last night I replaced the plug wires with Nology wires and replaced the #2 coil with a nology coil, Is it possible that the coil has fried the ignition control?

Sounds like you had a safety go out, maybe the side stand switch or even the kill switch at the throttle grip. Maybe the neutral safety. Since it will now turn over try starting it with the side stand up and clutch in (as you should anyway).

I did, I tried to start with the kick stand up and the bike in neutral with the clutch lever puled pulled. we pulled the start switch apart and checked voltages across it but there were none.

Could it be the kick stand or neutral sensor?

A total failure of spark as described sounds like a dud pick up coil. When checking the plugs for spark ensure the plug threads are well earthed, use a jumper cable or similar.

It sounds to me like either an ignition switch failure or a blown fuse -- my best guess would be the inline fuse that's between the battery and the start/engine cutoff switch.

The fuse is someplace under the seat or the rear of the fuel tank along the wiring harness. Sorry I can't be more specific on the location.

If that fuse is blown then there's no power to the ignition or starter solenoid.

Don't be too worried if the fuse is blown --unless the replacement blows immediately. A fuse operates in a constant state of 'near failure' and they do 'wear out' over time.

My money is on the ignition switch

Happend to a buddy of mine. He had some success playing with the key in the ignition from time to time..some connection got jacked up in there.

Good luck
