hey,
thinking about buying this bike but there are some issues.......

"Here is a project bike for the astute mechanic interested in a project requireing an lower engine rebuild. Story is an noise developed while riding, i stopped to find that the big end had gone !!! the experts say !!! . I have had thought of pursuing the project but i have to much on my plate and can't really afford to spend the time and money to get her going again. This bike has been a good time, and i am sorry to sell. But things in life change. Other than the engine problem this bike has no issues, 62,077 original kms, why this has happened i am not sure? but you might know more about these bikes and problems, truth is i have just lost interest. "

is there anything i should be looking at in particular or should i stay away. i will be doing the repairs myself so the only cost should be parts.......

thanks
bison

I wouldn't touch it personally unless I had a spare engine handy.

If the 'big end' has self-destructed then you'll be replacing the crankshaft and bearings at a minimum. As a worst case you might be able to reuse the cylinder head.

BUT, you didn't mention the price or whether you're seriously enamored of the bike...

Jim

swapping

just wondering if the "sound of the bottom end being gone" might be mistaken for something else, alternator, balance shaft etc

am looking at doing a straight swap for my bike. this one will be worth about 3 grand more than mine if it was running

plus i LOOOOOOOOOVE triumphs
