Smile long time lurker...finally pulled the trigger

I traded my 2001 sv650s and 300 bucks for a 2002 Thunderbird. Nice guy...found the ad on this board.

Have my first 100 miles under my belt, and I love it. Doesn't have the neck snapping acceleration or handling of the suzuki (it was also modded), but it is a really fun ride (and sounds great...has epco mufflers), comfortable, and I love the look.

After the thread on inseam, I was a bit worried that it would be too tall or something (I'm 5'8 on a good day), but I flat foot the bike and it feels perfect.

I'm stoked.

congrats on your purchase and welcome to the board.

I am not one of the smart people here, but I am always trying to learn. if you have a question, someone here will know.

I am surprised at your comment, regarding the neck snapping acceleration, the Thunderbirds are known for their abundance of torque, especially over the jap bikes.

post some pics of your new ride, and good luck . . .

Some clarification...

Perhaps these #'s will help explain
SV650 ('04) Hp 73.5 @ 8750 Torque 47.1 @ 7250 1/4 mile 11.87 @ 110.0
0-60 @4.44 Wet Weight 429
Adventurer ('97) Hp 67.4 @ 8000 Torque 54.5 @ 5000 12.91 @ 101.9
Wet Weight 530
It isnt that the Suzuki makes that much more power but it weighs 100lbs less
In the end though its the rider that makes the difference.
Not to brag but this sunday I went to Ct. with a group of Beemer riders. 3 of them had R1200 ST's and were wicked fast. I was 4th behind them on my Legend
However...I was waaaayy ahead (and I'm talking MINUTES) of the '07 GSXR 600 and the MV Augusta F4 ( which was dyno'ed that day at 145 RWHP ) the kid w/the F4 had had it custom painted Orange and Silver (it looked gorgeous) but in the end your skill and nerve determine what "the bike" can really do...

didn't mean to ruffle feathers

absolutely was not putting down the thunderbird's ability. I don't have the skills to push either bike to their limit...was just pointing out my casual observation after hopping on the triumph.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the 0-60 of the thunderbird?

I met up with some city Beemers at 8 am sunday and headed up to Cliff's BMW Ducati outside Danbury for the Open House /OctoberFest. With a stop in Carmel N.Y. for breakfast.

Hi! I'm new here too. I got my '98 Adventurer a couple months ago and liked it so much I put 500mi on it the first weekend. And I've been riding her as much as I can, as regular as I can every since.
I plan on dong a few things to pep her up a little, but she doesn't really need it. My husband rides a Sprint RS and I figure if I get a few more hp out of her I won't need to swap to a sportbike too in order to keep up. ATM unfortunately I'm having to replace a couple of broken parts.

Lotsa miles, lotsa smiles!
