So this 98 sprint executive engine I got has a 4 degree advance rotor in it.

What are your thoughts about putting this in the t-bird?
Is this a fairly common mod? Will I need to adjust the mixture, etc. afterward?

Thanks

Wow. This I can't wait to see. If you get it in there, can I buy some of the chrome from your old T Bird engine?

YOu can buy the chrome cowbell horn cover. That is the only piece I am getting rid of.

I wouldn't have added all the chrom myself, but it looks nice with the silver engine so I am going to leave it.

I am going to relocate the horn though and get rid of the cowbell because I don't like the way it looks.

YOu can stop by sometime if you want to see my progress.

I've got plenty of cowbell.

I will stop by sometime. Just how did you get a free engine, by the way? Maybe I missed that thread.

I met a guy from the two wheel texans website that had it.

He had a 98 sprint exec. This engine threw the #2 rod apparently. He bought a wrecked bike and took the engine from it to fix his bike.

He has since sold the sprint and bought a kawasaki concourse. He had the engine in his garage for a few years. I got to talking to him and he told me I could have it. I originally wanted it so that I could learn more about the triple engine by taking it apart. I am finding out now that some of the parts are interchangable with my engine and may give a performance increase.

I have been told that the T-Bird already has the advance rotor from the factory. It is a part of getting the torque curve where it is needed for the low-end grunt. The Sprint and S3 did not have the advance rotor originally as I understand. So, you probably won't notice any difference.

What condition is the cam in? That is the real performance enhancer in this engine....

cam looks nice and smooth.

Are the timing marks the same on this cam as they would be for the tbird cam so it is a simple swap over and valve adjustment?

I am assuming I will have to rejet afterward also.
