Parts trouble with 2000 T-Bird Sport?

Hey guys a buddy of mine is looking at this bike and I was wondering if you could tell how things are going part-wise and dealership-wise after being discontinued. To be honest I'm a little jealous - the T-Bird is what made me fall for Triumphs first. Let me know if there's any issues I can tell him about. Thanks in advance!

Parts are still available, but some are ridiculously expensive.

Some of the scarier ones:

Alternator - $850 (up from $600 last year IIRC)
CDI - $700 (up from $600 last year IIRC)

I think they keep raising the prices because they are legally obligated to offer spares for a certain number of years. They'd rather discourage people from buying their inventory than have to produce more. The exchange rates aren't helping things on our side of the pond either.

That said, if I came across a TBS locally, I'd gladly pay book value for it.

The upside is that these bikes are very reliable; you shouldn't have to buy any of these parts for many many miles. Information on cheaper fixes can also be found in this forum.

Parts will be available for at least the next 7 years most likely longer. They aren't drying up, though some of the accessories are...
Badmouth's cited price increases come down to the weak dollar vs uk pound rather than supply.
