Have you tried it without the K&Q seat? the stock seat, or failing that a Corbin may help you to flat foot.

Having said all that, as others have already attested 30" inseam is fine on these bikes, its really just a matter of confidence.

Hi jg0721b,

Seeing some of the comments, I wonder if your Thunderbird has the eccentric chain adjusters on the rear swing arm?

The original Thunderbird model (I have a '95) is a taller model than the later models (with slidder adjusters). I am not sure of the cut-over year, but wonder if it is '97, and like me you have this model with a higher seating position? If so, an alternative/addition to fitting the Legend doglinks (as Slinky suggested), you can also loose an inch in seat height through rotating the eccentric adjusters through 180 degrees. A number of other T300 Sprint, Daytona, Trophy, etc... owners have done this to good effect.

Let me know if you do indeed have the earlier Thunderbird with Eccentric Adjusters, and I can track down the guidelines & details for you.

Ciao, Geoff

I forgot to add this link, to the Jack Lilley site, which has adjustable doglinks, however fitting the Legend fixed size doglinks is a cheaper option for you.

I know why you ride on a K&Q seat. I have an '02
T-Bird and the stock seat turned into a brick after about
30 minutes of riding. But, with my 34" inseam I have no problem with my K&Q. My wife is the one with the short inseam and she is having trouble finding a new T100 that she can sit on flat footed.

For the past 11 months I have thought that my '04 TBS was just the perfect bike for me with my 30" inseam.

Now you tell me that it's NOT?

Please explain.
[/quote]

How did I know that wouldn't be a popular comment?

I have seen the seat height for the '97 Tbird listed as both 30.5" and 29.5". Having owned the bike, I would say it is most likely the former. I have a 32" inseam, weigh 200 lbs, and I was just able to flat foot this bike comfortably. When you consider the top-heavy nature of this bike, it makes it difficult to maneuver at very slow speeds when you can't comfortably flat foot it (if you search this forum, you will see a lot of comments about low speed tip overs on these bikes).

I am pretty sure that the K&Q seat actually lowers the seat height a small bit, and jg0721b is still having trouble flat footing his bike. I find it interesting that Beemie can flat foot his without any problems and his inseam is < 30"!

If you think your TBS is perfect for you - then it is. Enjoy it. However, if the seat height was a smidgen lower, I'm sure you wouldn't mind

Thunderbird with Eccentric Adjusters

I know this post has been out there for a while, but I would sure like to have those details you were talking about here regarding the Thunderbird with Eccentric Adjusters. I need to lower my '96 Thunderbird too!

well now...I am 5ft 5in...and my (uhhum).29ish..inseam, does not allow me to sit flat footed on my 96 bird ...or any other bike for the last 30 years...but...with the k&Q seat, i believe I am a bit closer....but i wouldent mind another 1inch....how much shorter are the dogbones for the legend?...and are there any other dogbones from other bikes that would work....and if not...Mick is right on the money...just a lil confidence....its not that important (to me anyway).....

I've never dealt with these guys, but they have a 3 position lowering kit that would work. For the price, beats making 3 sets of dogbones.

(I was eying their belt drive kit until I noticed the leisurely gear ratio)
