Rear Tyre Profiles on Legend

I wonder if anyone can help me on this - I've searched the threads but can't seem to find the answer.

My Legend runs the stock size 160/60 17inch rear but the Thunderbird Sport runs a 160/70 17inch with the same profile front tyre as the Legend. Has anyone run a 160/70 on a Legend? Would it affect anything. Part of the reason I ask is that 160/60 rear inner tubes are difficult to source unlike 160/70 but also I wonder whether it would sharpen up the handling which is fine but a bit ponderous for very twisty lanes that we get here in Devon.

that 160/60 means that the tread is 160mm wide and the profile is 60% of that. I dont think 10% higher will make a lot of difference, may sharpen it up a little, will lift the rear very slightly.

I am going to install a 160x70 on my next tire change. I think T put a 60 series on the Legend just to get it lower for marketing purposes. The Legend and TBS wheels are the same size so it should not matter. A change to a 70 series should not be material and I am not concerned about seat height on the Legend.

I do run a 160/70 Avon Azaro on my Legend and it works very well. I had my suspension lifted by putting Thunderbird dog bones in place of the stock ones and this lifted the seat approx. 1-1 1/2 inches. I think it handles better than stock. I'm not tall but I didn't like the low rider feel of the stock Legend.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll change it to the 160/70 size.

tire size

The last time I changed my tire the counter sales guy said I could go up or down 10% meaning 160/60 could go to 160/70 or 160/50. I went with the 160/70 also. I have been to the local dealer and mentioned a couple of times at tire changes that I have 17" tires both front and back of my legend. He always seems very confused at this, stating that it should have 18" on the front. anyone else have 17" front and back or just me?

Your local dealer is confusing your Legend with a T-bird. All Legends (and T-Bird Sports) came with dual 17" rims.
