Chain/Guard Question

I've been hearing a weird "tink" sound when putting into first gear and then sometimes when shifting into second.

We have to wear helmets here in MO, so I hadn't noticed too much until lately.

Anyway, I put it up on the stand and started her up...shifted into first and right away, I could see the chain "jump" just a bit and it hit the chain guard for just a link or two...then did the same thing when shifting to second.

So, my question is, is it the chain or the guard that's the problem. The guard doesn't look bent, but I'm unsure how much a chain should "jump" on gear change.

Any input is appreciated

TIA

Other Motorcycle: I wish!
If the chain moves THAT much, my guess is that you need to adjust your chain.
