Haynes manual.. yay or nay?

Having fun blasting around on the TBS, but I don't know how to check the oil, no idea what spark plugs to use, how to check the coolant lever etc. etc.

So is the Haynes a good deal (seems to be $33 on Amazon) or is the factory manual the way to go here???

Haynes is OK, Factory is OK too. Although both have a few errors.

I'd start with the Haynes and if you need some of the other info then get the factory one later.

One error I am aware of is Oil capacity. the Haynes manual lists it as 4 litres.
It is in fact 3.75 litres. Not sure if the factory one has the same error. (cause i'm too lazy to get it and look)

I concur with Gdsila - the oil capacity has definitely been 3.75 liters the six or so times I have changed the oil on this engine (A 1994 Trident and a 2002 Thunderbird).

Overfilling will cause oil to travel up into the air filter and be much trouble.

After you have about 3 liters in, fill it a bit and check the level, and then repeat this operation until the oil is half way up the site glass when the bike is vertical. If it fills before 3.75 liters the old oil was not all removed (see an old thread on this).

I typically have the 1/4 liter of oil left for the next change and I waste it by running it through the crankcase just to clean out any old oil left in it.
