old school to new school?

I look at my 2000 legend and think " ya know, with long forks this would make a great chopper, what would it cost? "

Now dig deep in your imagination, with a 28" high seat that summer screen might just be all the windshield you need if the front was up about 9 inches.
any one tried? dreamed of it? pipe dreams? lol

seriously, what would the spec's be and whats the cost?

no matter how much I try I just cannot see the Legend, or any of the Triumph triple classics as a chopper. Bobber, you bet, but not a chopper. With that said I'll tell you that I would really like to see a pick of what you turn out. Maybe you could try to Photoshop something , it would give you a good idea of the outcome before you invest any money.

Ohio?? sure you,re not in Orange County? Call up the Tuttles and see if they can "imagine" it.
I tried, I really did, but all I saw was tears.
Just my opinion.

WHY would you want to **** up a perfectly good bike like that? Destroy the handling AND make it look hideous too?

Yeah,.................................... no.

Got to go with Greaser on this. The bikes look great stock and I would only contemplate changing the forks to TBS for double discs. A chopped bike in my opinion greatly loses its looks and resale value.

Well of course, nothing is sacred when it comes to the chopping block.
I say that, but if I were to stumble over a nice Vincent, I'd probably hold off.

Whether chopping a bike makes it look worse or better is all a matter of opinion.

Found a few pics by a "motopsycho71' over on Yahoo...

Some are pretty ugly, some aren't bad.

That said, I have no intention of chopping the TBS.... yet.

Putting aside questions of whether you 'should' chop a Legend

Would you be putting it in a new frame, or modifying the stock one. The problem I'd see w/ option B is you can't really get that classic low-slung chopper rear with the stock frame - you're always going to be sitting over the wheel, not down in front of it.

You'd also have to fab up some kind of forward controls... there are a few folks here who have done that, do a search in this forum.

IMO, just extending the forks won't look right... just kind of strange.

Here are a couple links to folks who have done the custom/cruiser route with their Hinckley 3s:

Triumph Hybrid (Check out the 'T-Rod', pretty cool... I think the owner is on this board somewhere).

Mild bobber

I think user Tre900 also went the bobber route, dunno if he has any photos posted.

HTH, good luck if you decide to go for it, be sure to post pics...

I knew someone had to have done it. I have an extra legend engine and wasn't sure if the better route was to use stock frame and transform it or take the engine and get a frame fabricated. anyone else with pics please post them.

Yeah, I bought that T-Rod. It rides like a dream and is very comfortable. The only thing I am looking to change is that I need a passenger seat and I really want to keep the "look". Any ideas?
