TBS Stress Test

Well, I got stuck on I-26 near Charleston SC in bumper-to bumper traffic for about three and a half miles. In 98 Degree (farenheit) heat. For forty-five minutes. In a Polyester/Wool uniform, with a cotton jumpsuit over that for protection. In a full-face helmet that is mostly black.

Talk about hell. My left forarm feels like Popeye's.

But the bike didn't overheat. I guess that means the coolant system is doing what it's supposed to to. I never have been able to hear the fan running over the sound of traffic and the engine, but I guess this proves that it is working.

You know what, i feel happy to hear that my TBS fan is working. About 2 y. ago motorbike was on nearly same street stress test. Everything went fine, while i saw some motorbikes bleeding their coolant. Strange, one of them was Daytona...

I watched a Daytona tighten up and stop during stop and go traffic one day. He let it sit on the side of the road for about 1 hr. and it started and ran fine. Bikes with full fairings around the engine seem to have a very restricted air flow and tend to run hot in slow conditions. I also have a Trophy and in these conditions you can bake biscuits on the gas tank. I will pull to the side and shut it off before cooking the seals when this type occasion arises. Just a thought.

then nothing strange, only driver failed to stop engine. So it means this can happen to everyone who's in rush and doesn't pay attention to engine temperature...
