Good price for a TBS?

Hey, just wondering about a 2000 TBS I am looking at in a local dealer. It is $4495 and has 5700 miles on it. It looks like it is in perfect condition. Is this a good price or still a little high.

Is a TBS a good bike to start on if I haven't owned a bike in 20 years? I have had my license for 3 years but need to actually get a bike.

Also do any of you know the best place for bike financing?

Thanks

I really can't help...but I paid 6000 for my 2004 TBS with 1995 miles on it last year. Maybe it was too much maybe a bargain- but I sorta forget the price and enjoy the bike- now if I paid 500 too much or got it 500 better than most are going for the price mighht be part of the story. As it is- I paid a "reasonable" price in my mind. You are gonna need a valve check and the 6000mile service which ain't cheap if the dealer does it- maybe he would throw that in the deal...

Sorry to be so little help- but I still buy with my gut- maybe some guys with brains will chime in http://www.triumphrat.net/images/icons/icon7.gif

I'd consider it a reasonable price. I'm selling my '01 adventurer with a starting price of $3400 with bags/$3100 without.

Well I can't claim I am chiming in for brains but here is how I see it.
They don't make them anymore. If the price is attainable and the bike is what you like or love then buy it. If it is a TBS you want, there are not a lot to pick from. A 99 sold recently here for $7500.00 Canadian. $4495.00 Seems cheap to me, but then if I sold my 03 I would expect a whole lot more than that to get it away from me. But I am kind of strange about my bike.

Seems like a good price for a bike from a dealer, you could probably do a little better if you looked around for a private seller.

They're great all around bikes, so you'll be happy either way.

I too went about 25 years without riding. My former bike (which I still have) was a 71 Honda 350 Scrambler. I restored it only to find that it was inadequate for the higher altitude I now live in. I bought a used 2004 TBS with 1300 miles on it from the dealer 2 summers ago for $6200. The way I figured, it was like new, was only a year old, and they sold for $7900 new or there abouts, and like Jaben said, they don't make them anymore and there's not alot to choose from. Seems like a fair price from a dealer. The dealer should be able to refer you to a reasonable financing source.

As for the ride, it rides pretty easy. A bit top heavy in slow turns but not hard to get used to. I love the way it behaves itself in high speed twisties.

02 Thunderbird

I paid 5500 U.S. for an 02 Thunderbird with less than 4000 miles. In MINT condition. I thought it was a pretty good price. I'm VERY new to cycling so I'm not real sure how good that is. But it was what I wanted and at a price I was wiling to pay so if I got ripped off or not I'm happy either way.

But how good a price was it?

I appreciate all the advice. I guess part of the problem is that I am not all that sure about the dealer. Seems I always get different stories in talking to them. Sounds like a good deal though. Thanks everyone for the info.
