I see what you mean now. I am pretty sure that the pins are the same length and it's the subframe that differ.

Now you mention it, when I fitted a 1998 seat to my 2000 subframe I have to pack the pawl out from the seat by about that much to get it to work IIRC.

the single sport seat for the t-bird sport is great fun but dont make the same mistake that i did by going for a 280 mile run up north with it on,after about 100 miles i realised that i had made a mistake but was to far into the run to turn back for the soft gel seat,by the time i got home after 560 miles i was sorely tempted to sell it but after a week of recovering and not being able to sit down(had to stand at the bar for 6 days) i fell in love with it again but only for local runs.

It can always be resculpted for more comfort, as with all of the Triumph saddles. Is the States, there are a number of folks that can make it more comfortable for you.
