Valve adjust done-everything seems OK!!!!!!

My biggest job on it to date. Just used the manual, step by step- 2 "loose" exhaust valves- the local hondasukikawa guy had the correct shims. Reaching the inside one was a bit rough-but I finally found the angle!! The triumph tool is real useful for shim removal- but pricey if I don't need it for another 12000 miles!!My cover had a cool gasket that covered everything- sparkplug holes, edge, cam ends...AND IT AIN'T LEAKING (so far).

The plugs were kinda black- turns out the time I had the dealer put in pilot jets he put 45's- I bought 42 so my next job is the jets (mightr even just put back the stock...but I have the 42 so... we'll seee- I'll be asking.

POINT IS it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be- and those who do it- KNOW how good it feels when a new skill is acquired (or challenge met.

I couldn't/wouldn't have tried it without the guys who answered my posts and gave me some encouragement- thanks!!

Nice one, feels good does`t it.I forget how much seems second nature to me now, just another job.Its the fact that you take the top off the engine that scares people.I did a kawasaki 1200 outside the dealer in Milton Keynes once,It involved removing the cams too...........got bad sunburn on my back that day.You do a better job yourself, always!.

Really- My audi dealer gets $95/hr. Last time they did NOT check all fluids, lubricated the door hinges by spraying lithium OVER the dirt on the hinges, didn't wipe out the crud in the oil cap area, etc etc. Last time someone worked on my boat he didn't even bring out the torque wrench till I asked what the torque was supposed to be on a particular nut, the guy who did the "slightly" larger pilots on my bike put 45's in (38 is stock- only went to offroad pipes.) If I am careful and don't take shortcuts, and KNOW when I'm over my head- stupid, newbie, weekend warrior me still trusts my work more than MOST (not all) shops.
