D&D performance

I know that D&Ds seem to be the loudest pipes for the Thunderbird Sport, but do they increase performance as well? Anyone have a dyno run to see the increase? Also, how many of you that have them have had them drag? It seems to be an issue, especially two up.

I dont have the D&D's, but with a three into one, I ran a 13.1 quarter. It was a really bad surface( they hadnt cleaned the track from the previous week)I had a lot of traction problems, I reckon with a good burnout and a smaller front sprocket(mine is one tooth larger than stock)it would easily see mid 12's

Ant,

I have shopped with Brent from Newspeedmaster/Bonneville/Thruxton many times before. He is extremely helpful and ships items very quickly. You will not be disappointed.

I dyno'd 73 rwhp with 955 sprint cams, D&D 3>3, & an open airbox. Had it dyno'd again with smaller pilots, & a Trophy airbox (on a humid day) & it dyno'd 70.

Those with similar setups, but with a 3 into 1 exhaust have gotten 85-92 rwhp. Judging from the threads I've read, the thunderbike exhaust seems to straighten out the midrange issues everyone gets when they start opening up the airflow on both ends.

It might not just be the pipes, but I'm convinced enough that I have the thunderbike pipe on order.

I hate my D&D's. They're too loud, they reduce your clearance, they weigh a ton, you have to remove them to adjust the chain, they are chrome & therefore will pit and rust, etc. My harley friends seem to love them, but then again most of them are more concerned with them being shiny and loud rather than actually having any power. I believe if a bike is revving loud and not going fast, there should at least be some smoke coming from the back tire.

I have had mine dyno'd at 86. Exhaust, airbox and cams. Rejetted of course. It would make significantly less, as I went back to a stock airbox and jets. Still kept the 40 pilots in though.
