I was looking at a ebay auction for a '00 Legend. in the description it said ("S" plate) . what is this refering to? if it is the manufacturing vin plate what does the S signify and what other models are out there? benefits of each type?

If this a UK bike, then S is the first character on the number plate. "S" refers to the year of registration. An S would make it a '99 registration. The first letter used to change once a year, then it switched to twice a year. When they got to Y (Z was never used) and used up all the alphabet a new system started.
