I have a dealer installed fly screen, luggage rack/sissy bar and the regular no tool to remove seat on my 2004 TBS. Questions are:
I've heard that the rack and fly use longer bolts- do I need shorter to return to stock?

Does the cowl/solo seat have the same space underneath for manual and small tool pouch? Does it ALSO have any room under the cowl for anything?

Except for a tank bag I guess the cowl would eliminate my use of a tail bag? (that is a question!)

Curious for youse guys opinion- if the bike is basically stock (larger pilot jets and tors) is the move to seat and cowl a poseur move- or is there some comfort/legitamacy (sp) homage to tradition to it. I know it's my choice- I just wonder what some opinions are..
Thanks.

The bolts for the rack at least are longer, but I dont think the screen used longer ones. The rack ones should be fine as should the screen ones.

The solo seat has the space for the manual and a much larger space under the cowl for storing tools etc. Its not a big enough space to eliminate your tail bag unless that bag is very small or you dont carry much in it.

I found the solo seat firmer but more comfortable especially if you slide your butt back into it.

The fly screen uses longer "shouldered" bolts than the stock headlight bolts that keeps the headlight secure without squeezing the gromets on the screen.

I can stuff a toolkit, a Cycle Pump and a plug kit under my solo seat. Way more useful and comfortable than the stocker. Love it.

My flyscreen didnt come with those! If yours has those you willl likely want to replace them with either the stockers or some stainless allen head cap screws for aesthetics. However they should still work fine without the screen, just stick out a bit.

I ordered the replacement bolts for the fly screen that i bought used, It came without hardware. Triumph sent me the shouldered bolts like pictured in legend's post. They work perfectly, no extra mounting hardware is needed.

SOUNDS like I might WANT the correct bolts. I know that the ones on my rack will hit the fender if I use them without the rack and sissy bar. Since it appears that the headlight "short" bolts are also shouldered, I don't see how they can snug-up the bracket AND be too long. I went ahead and ordered the stock bolts for the headlight bracket. I have some shorter ones for the rack.

Mick- you ARE right- I jumped to MY conclusion with some of the offered evidence and my experience. ANYWAY- from this and other posts (search) it sounds like people like the solo seat and cowl...I ordered them yesterday!

just joking with you rick :-D

The long headlight bolts should snug up ok as they are designed to do so independently of the flyscreen, but that is moot as you have ordered OEM ones, which will look much better anyway.

I don't think you'll regret the solo seat so long as you ride the bike with the right posture (sports - butt pushed back) its more comfortable. Counter intuitive as the padding is thinner, but it supports over a greater area. IMO the solo seat is the best looking option too.
