After 57,000 miles it looks as if my ignition pick-up is finally spittin the bit. Felt like someone pulled the plug on all three cylinders. She started right back up after sitting for 10 minutes. Got back on, rode for a few more miles, quit, cool down, repeat....all the way to work. Fortunately the nearest dealer (Destiny, Syracuse NY - two hours away) had one in stock and is overnighting it to me. (They have been very pleasant the few times I've dealt with them.)

I was a bit surprised by the price-tag though ($78 US). Weren't they in the 25-35 dollar range or am I flashing back to Woodstock again?

Regards....Hagrid

Other Motorcycle: Can't afford two!
Extra Motorcycle: Three would be insane
Certainly sounds like the pickup - classic symptoms...

They used to be around $45 but then it used to be $1.50 to the UK pound, its now nearer $2.

Look on the bright side, mine's just given up the ghost after 3,500 miles !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, and I'm right in the middle of the flooding we're having over here in the UK.

DOH !

Watch out in those low lying areas!

I do a bit of the emergency response thing here in the US. Last major flood they gave me a GPS unit and a 600 volt hybrid truck to find my way across the swollen rivers. I must admit I was a bit on edge.

Would not want to subject Gill Electrics to underwater navigation. Too expensive!

Good luck....Hagrid

As long as it's not the $700+ (retail) ignitor. After way too long (multiple visits to the shop, new coils, etc...) I finally picked one up for a "decent" price on ebay and all the previous problems - thought to be coil(s), plugs, then fuel/carb) are gone...

No..... thank you. Been there done all that. When the ignitor went 2 years ago it was just one cylinder. After reading and learning from this fine group I was ready when the pick-up went. Pulled the plug on all three. Ordered a new one when i got to work and installed it the next day. Also realized that I hadn't heard the fan much lately. I'll be getting on that tomorrow. Don't want to cook the new one.

Good luck....Hagrid
