Hey guys, while talking with my Triumph parts guy, he suggested one way to get some added sound/hp was to get an airbox eliminator kit. We didn't get far enough into the discussion to determine whether there was one available for a 98 TBS. However, he said it cost around $300 and would probably add a few hp and some sound. My question is, is it worth the $300? I searched the threads and didn't find anything on this topic. Thanks.

The only "airbox eliminator kit" I've heard of is for the Bonnies, but if you find out anything about a kit for the Triples please pass it along.

Other Motorcycle: I can have two?
My three pods = $30.00(for all), punched out slip on's from MAP in Clearwater, FL = $110(for two, and literally just push the baffles out), and just ordered the new mains and pilots, gonna assume about $60 for these = $200, plus your labor. YOU CAN DOOO EET!

Make sure you budget some $ for dyno time as pods are notoriously hard to set up. People have figured different jetting solutions so you may be able to jet it yourself. Dont forget to buy a crankcase breather filter; however, you can always fashion a small catchcan and just run the hose (or use a longer length) to it. There is nothing inherent to the bike that means you have to use a filter, all it does is stop your bike from dripping oil.

You might check into "mecatwin' website for a 'pod' setup. There's a few foto's to tease you; the site is currently in French, but English translation is soon to follow.
I'm gonna make the change myself; don't know about performance/rejetting issues. but they sure look good.

Best regards, all, from 'da UP of Michigan :-D

There is no kit available - but many have made their own.

Only problem with the pads conversion set up is that your carbs are just hanging out there on the intake rubbers - sooner or later they will start cracking and leaking. Better rig some support for them to the frame. The airbox assembly provides this support in the stock set up.

Anyone have a picture of a support they have designed?

Dose anyone with pods have trouble in rain or wet? You also have to lose the side covers when you remove the airbox right? Has anyone cut away most of the airbox and leave enough for the carb & side cover support?

Yup... there are some in my photo album.

I used a turnbuckle and a strap from home depot... cost about $6.
