Question -

I just bought a 1996 Triumph Thunderbird 900, and cannot get it to start. It was having slight problems turning over yesterday while I was riding, and today I can't get it to start at all. I used to have a police bike, so I'm new to owning a Triumph.

Anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, etc?

Thanks!

Battery dead?
If it was having trouble turning over and now it is not, that would be the first thing to look at.
Are you able to jump start it from another battery?

I'm really hoping it's the battery. But it's hard to say. It kind of sounds like the battery's ok but it's just to starting. I'm having a tow truck come today and jump start me, but if it doesn't work, I'm off to a mechanic. Which mechanic in NYC? I have no idea.

If you just bought it and might be having battery problems I will suggest that you hold in the clutch as you attempt to start it (every time).

Good luck.

You might want to try and jump it off of a car...they usually have enough charge to power through anything minor. if it starts you know it's the battery.

i live in nyc, and there is no triumph repair shop i know of. the only one i know is on route 22 or down in freehold.
