Help-I have an opportunity to get a Centre Stand off of a 96 T-Bird. I have an 2002 Bird and want to make sure it will fit.
I can't try it out because it's in another state. Any knowledge of the frame differences particularly with the stand fitting. Or will all T-Bird Centre stands fit each year?
Time sensitive on this response
Thanks
Ted :hammer:

I have only ever seen the one kit sold for Thunderbirds/Adventurers, whatever the year.

According to my old Triumph Accessories catalogs, the center stand is the same for all T-Birds, Part #A9950063. I just installed one on my '99 T-Bird

The only ones it doesn't fit is the late model TBS's, and that is only because of the exhaust pipe setup. Or thats my understanding.

Edit:I think the Legends have troubles because of their lower overall height as well. I beleive the stand works, but the bike is raised that much higher vis a vis more effort required to lift it.

There is a separate centre stand for the Legend which is shorter than that for the T'Bird/Adventurer, as is the side stand.

Tony, yes you are correct, I forgot about that.

But I guess it still helps, don't buy a legend one for an TB or visa versa.

My centre stand is in use on my '04 TBird and has been fitted previously to my '95 and '02 models. The only minor difference I noticed with current bike was that the brackets with the stand stop-lugs (parts 3 and 4 Here) which attach to the frame had to be bent outwards slightly to make sure the corresponding lugs on the stand itself lined up with them when placing the bike on the stand. Seems unlikely, but it may be that the drag link on the newer bikes is very slightly narrower? Either way, you should have no problem with a '96 stand on an '02 bike.
