I bought a new T-Bird in 1995 and put 50,000 miles on it in 8 yrs. It ran like a champ and I had zero problems. Bought a new 2004 Bird Sport, put 15,000 miles on it, and it was even better. I loved those triples---great powerband, lots of torque, and super sound with the Triumph "off road pipes." But I recently sold my Sport to improve cash flow, and have depressed ever since! I started looking for a T-bird, Standard or Sport, but they are VERY hard to find.

I test drove the new Bonnie T-100 with the bigger motor, but it just didn't have the jam of either of my T-Birds. The "off road" pipes are anemic, and I don't want to spend a fortune to try and make the motor do what my T-Birds did. I think the triple is just a way better motor. Any thoughts? Any leads on used T-Birds, especially on the west coast?

I saw that bike in person a couple of weeks ago, and took it for a short ride up the street. It's a very nice motocycle with umpteen accessories and modifications.

Hey Alpods,

I couldn't agree more with you on the Bonnie/TB comparison.

I had an 02 Bonnie America. It was a nice looking bike had great sound with its TOR but no machismo.

When I first drove my 99 T-Bird I was amazed at its pep for only being a 900. Blow the doors off the bonnie not to mention alot of Harleys. Anyway the bike was so much fun I went out and picked up an 04 TBS :hammer:

My first Hinckley Triumph was '97 T-Bird. Traded it in on a '98 Sprint Executive, sold that, Had a '98 Speed Triple, sold that, bought a '99 Adventurer, sold that, ended up with an '01 Bonneville which I rode for 5 years until it was wrecked by my brother-in-law last fall. Just last week found a '99 T-Bird with only 700 miles on it, and just picked it up. Put 100 miles on it today. The T-Bird is definitely a more robust machine. The engine has more character and torque. I loved the Bonnie, but IMHO the T-Bird is a simply a better bike all around. I plan on keeping this one a long time, and no one else rides my bikes but me!

There is a 98 T-Bird, Red with less than 5K on it at 380 Power-sports. It needs a Battery, and a Good Cleaning. But has off road silencers, a centre stand, windscreen, sissy bar with a rack and a KQ seat. They want $4500 but it could be had for under $4000 because of the need to clean it up.

The Tbird is a real keeper and they are now sort after.Never sell is the best advice. If you can't find a good one then try a Speed Triple.Totaly different looks and ride but the best Triumph so far (at least I think so). Raid the bank balance and get both !

Keep going on this topic. I'm also interested in adding a tbs to supplant one of the Bonnies. I have no perspective on these bikes other than an irrational immediate need to have one. They seem to be acquiring true cult status, and are bulletproof. Why did the stop making this line rather than update it? What is the model to target and keep?
