Hey All,
After having finally put in a few long rides this summer on the TBS, I have come to the realization that my rear end can't handle much more of the abuse. :-| At anyrate, I know there are basically 3 alternatives to the stock seat
1. The Triumph Solo Seat
2. The Corbin Thunderbird Seat ( I under stand that the one they list on their site will still fit the TBS)
3. A custom made seat using the stock seat pan.
If you have tried any of these alternatives, please let those of us who are looking for alternatives know your opinions about the relative comfort between these seats, and the original slab.
For those with a Corbin, how easy is it to fit to the TBS?
Thanks,

I have my stock seat pan with a myers leather seat on it, works well for me, I also have the solo seat with cowel, good for around town and short, very short rides, and I have the High Pillion seat, that is a 300 mile seat..if I had to have just one, it would be the one redone by myers in Calif.. but he did recommend I move the bars back and up, which I did, big difference there also.. as you can see I have over $1,000 in seats..and yes for that kind of money, I do alternate.. I would have to guess got about $10,000 in my 98 TBS right now..probably more with the off road silencers and scott oiler and luggage rack..

I rode on 600 mile day on the stock seat and ordered a Comfort Seat from Sprint Manufacturing. It was kind of a pain to ship the seat pan to England and back; but they were great folks to deal with and I really like the seat. Next to the off road pipes and a full tank of gas, it's the best money I spent on my TBS.

FWIW, I despised the stock seat. I got a solo seat w/cowl and find it much more comfortable. Yes, it's a lot harder than the stock seat, but it feels much more comfortable. Better support, and the seat is horizontal, not sloping towards the tank.

IIRC the Corbin Thunderbird seat fits fine if you relocate the seat lock pin. There are in different places on the TBS and early Thunderbird.
I vote for the solo seat as well.

I have the solo seat from Triumph.
I find it to be a lot more comfortable then the stock seat even though it has less padding.
The stock seat put pressure on my butt that would make it go numb. (not good when your brains are down there)
I still use the stock seat when I have a rider. Maybe I'll get a K&Q seat in the future.

Thanks all,
I appreciate the opinions and info. One additional question, for those of you with a Corbin or other custom seat options, how much do these cost?
After putting in one 500 mile day, and a couple of 150 + mile days, pretty much any cost has to be worth it :lollol: Just to be able to sit down comfortably after a day in the saddle.
There must be more than 5 of us who have gone the custom seat route, right? Please share, I need to start budgeting for something and soon.
(Still looking for the smiley that says OUCH! maybe one of these?.... :-o )
