Hi There,

I just purchased a 2000 Legend TT for a song (divorce sale). It only has 5K on it and looks like it rolled out of the show room yesterday (black color for the curious). It's loaded with just about every option Triumph make for these bikes. Like anyone else though I want to keep adding to it. I swear half the joy in motorcycling comes from endlessly personalizing your own ride.

Anyway, the two things I am looking at right now are hard case saddle bags and a new exhaust system. I really like the 3 – 1 exhaust made by or for Thunderbike.

1. For those that are familiar with the Thunderbike product are there any drawbacks to this system? I’m not looking at the SS system which does not allow access to the oil filter.

2. Where can I find hard bags that fit these bikes? I am not a big fan of the Triumph leather bags that came with the bike. But don’t want to custom make my own brackets to accommodate hard bags either.

Thanks for your input!

Rob

The only drawback to the Thunderbike system is that it is more up swept than stock so you may be limiting yourself to what kind of bags you can get on this. I used to have a pair of leather throw overs, but they were to close with this pipe.

Welcome to the club and enjoy your new bike. You can check my photo album if you are curious how it looks on a Green Legend.

I've been looking around at hard bags all over the net, they are a lot of options, but for most you'll have to devise a mounting system your self. I've found various sizes and styles ranging from $50 to $300, it depends on what tickles your fancy.

I'll submit the websites I've found over the next week or so as I come across them.

Just to let you know, Thunderbike will make you a stainless version that looks just like the chrome version (misses the oil drain plug). Cost is the same as the advertised stainless exhaust.
