Hey guys-

I'm selling my 1998 yellow and black TBS with solo and original seats. She's got less than 5k miles on the clock (very embarassing). I'm asking 5,000 USD for her and I'm located in the Portland Maine area. I will deliver in a 300 mile radius or possible more. My wife and I are having our first child so all the toys are going (including her '96 Trident).

Thanks for looking!

Congratulations on becoming a dad!

But why sell your precious?
I've got 2 kids and I still ride....if I didn't I'd be a depressed dad...better to be a happy
dad :-D

Think twice man....my guess is that if you sell you'll be buying again in a couple of years
so why not keep this one if you're happy with it.

Best & good luck,
Spooner

Spooner-

Thanks for the encouragement! I have two main reasons for selling...the first is obviously financial (feel free to send aid)!!! The second is that I'll be losing my favorite riding partner, my wife. We're selling her '96 Trident as well and I don't envision us being able to both ride for many years to come. I'd love to hang on to my beautiful yellow and black beast until that time but practical concerns dictate otherwise.

Is there anyone from your area that would put together a RAT RAID and take up a collection so you could keep your bike?
I think you and your wife will find that you will be back on your bikes sooner then you think. If you can hire a baby sitter for a night out then you can do the same for a bike night out.

I suggest you get your bike in the ads you wish to put them in soon. We are quickly approaching the down season for motorcycling which usually leads to lower selling prices for everyone (dealers and individuals). I think your price might be a tad high so if you have a shot at getting that put it out there ASAP!

Just my two cents.

I thought I *might* be asking too high a price too (mostly because of my distress at the thought of parting with such a machine). To my surprise I have three VERY interested buyers on the line. I've had no inquiries from classified ads. All the calls have come since I put the bike in front of my office a week ago. I think it's too rare of a breed to be able to sell in the newspapers...people have to see her to appreciate her.

I met some folks at Mid Ohio Vintage days this summer. They have two boys that are now 6 and 4. They kept motorcycling when their children were young by adding a side car rig.
It was a neat story and I got my first ever ride in a sidecar.

Cheers,
Denny

Let me know if the local buyers don't pan out... I'm on the lookout for a TBS (or maybe a speed triple... I'm so indecisive) but I was hoping to find one closer to home (NJ).
