Have no where to post this so thought you guys might have an idea. I have a TBS and a Yamah Virago. The TBS is firing up but has a minor hesitation when i twist the throttle. the weird thing is the yamaha..it is idling rough, but when i twist the throttle, about half the time the rpms actually go down...and it coughs and backfires. No power at all...then it might clear up for a minute or two, then fall back into it. Changed the spark plugs but that is alli'm really capable of.

had the carb serviced last year.

thoughts?

thanks for listening

Maybe flooding. when you open the throttle and the bike splutters it is maybe because you are flooding the bike. I'd check that your choke is working correctly.

flooding=to much fuel and/or not enough air.

Extra Motorcycle: too expensive
I have a Yamaha V-star 1100, which has the same engine as the Virago 1100. Mine does that if it has old gas in it. Warming it up and putting fresh gas in usually clears it up.
