Cecfelix, one more thing about the Mikunis that I should have mentioned. They use a plastic slide and the slide will wear over time which is part of what causes the needle/needle jet to wear. The slide wear can also cause the slides to stick a bit and produce some erratic operation.

If you find wear on the needles it would be well worth your while to replace the slides at the same time.

Mikunis, "A", I was unsure hence the CVK note on the spec, I have not had the pleasure of fiddling with these. I'll observe this one. I'm still having a wizzing contest with moto, just for the fun of it. Still can't figure out what " low end richness at wide open throttle means??????? :???:

If you didn't have CV carbs, it would be obvious. With VV carbs (like FCRs) you've got direct control of the slide. The slide is the throttle in a VV rather than the butterfly in a CV.

Anyhow, the VV carbs let you pop the throttle wide open at low rpms which pretty much makes a mess of the mixture.

At least that's what I think he's talking about, but I'm not sure... it might explain why some of his stuff doesn't make sense.

One more thing to check is all the o-rings in the carbs.
There are 2 on the float assembly, one on the plastic slide guide (held in place by the needle jet and one small under the black cover on top of the carb.
On my 1996 all theese o-rings where dry and leaked, causing a much to rich bottom end.

Found a couple of part numbers for Mikuni O-rings in my files...

Aparently the same model carbs were used on a Suzuki Katana (no specific info) and the floats and O-rings are the same.

Small O-rings: Suzuki P/N 13374-46710

Large O-rings: Suzuki P/N 13374-35C00

Suzuki might also be a cheaper source for slides too.

I bought my from a local dealer.
The o-rings should be 5*1,5mm and 7*1,5mm one of each for every carb. Prefereably viton type, to resist the petrol.
