Hello,
i just take a look at the older postings and now i´m a little bit confused.
i own a 2001 TB with Keihin carbs and 70 ps(HP).
Now my questions
if i want to buy a dynojet kit ,can i use the one for TBS ?
are the carb rubbers of keihins restricted,or what else is the difference between 01 TB and 01 TBS ( i think 78 hp )?

hope you can heal my confusion

Hey, I know one of these.. The carb rubbers for the Keihin's are not restricted.
I would have to think the dynojet kit should work fine. IIRC from prior threads the Keihins used were the same across the classic line.

The only difference in the later(6 speed) Tbird and TBS engine is Paint, Exhaust and airbox covers. The 70ps rating was published for the early (mikuni) engines and it was not changed when the TBird got the Kehins and unrestricted carb rubbers.

I am pretty sure the TBS's also differed in dual disks in the front, and adjustable suspensions front and rear. But I agree that the listed horse-power differences were smoke.

You are right, I was only speaking of engine differences.

There are many differences in other areas.

There have been at least a dozen jetting threads.
the stock jets are: Pilots 38 Mains 98 (Keihin Carbs)
If all your looking for is a little bit of boost but not planning major airbox mods,and multiple dyno runs to get it sorted
40 Pilots and 100 mains will give good results.
Beyond that ie: 42 pilots 120 mains ect is further than I was willing to go. Others here however have gone all out in thier search for HP and could advise you on those specifics.

Hello and thanks for information,

later TB and TBS have the same carbs, were not restricted and the difference of ps or hp are only on paper.
When i want to spend some more power to my pony, i have to do the airbox, silencer and jet job.

That it is in short, is it?

It is really a great bike, every day every km (sorry mile)

Yes. I don't think the Dyno jet kits are for the Keihin's, but may be wrong.

The horsepower ratings Triumph gives out are taken at the crankshaft, so the actual Rear Wheel HP is about 60. The 80 HP TBS rating is some sort of abberation -- possibly a model that never made it into production or only available in Europe. 80 HP also translates to about 68 RWHP, so my guess is that they had a different air filter box on the bike.

DynoJet has a kit for the Mikuni carbs and Factory Pro has one for the Keihin carbs. The FP kit won't change the peak RWHP since the horsepower limits are set by the intake and exhaust systems, but it will affect rideability.

With the price of the FP kit where it is, I'd suggest increasing the main jet to #100 (#98 stock) and upping the pilot jet to #40 (#38 stock) and installing a K&N air filter. You'll get more bang for the buck that way and have a few dollars left over for gas so you can ride more! :-D

The Keihin carbs don't use the restricted carb rubbers. They were only installed on the Mikuni carbs so you don't have to worry about that.
