I had recently spent the previous weekends installing new bars, coils, mirrors, chain, and sprockets. The Legend was finally completed and road worthy. I had it out a few days prior to today.

It was a wonderful Friday morning. I had planned to ride to work. Wouldn't you know it, at the first traffic light out of my apartment complex a driver turned left in front of me. To make a long story short, I came so close to the car I can't figure out whether I clipped the front end with the left side of my body/cycle or I high sided it due to rider error.

The car that I did/or didn't clip left the scene. I went over the bars and to the right, landed hard, rolled, slid and finally stopped. I landed a good 20 feet away from the bike. My gear ( full face helmet, gloves, boots, heavily padded Joe Rocket jacket ) saved my skin and brains.

The left arm of the jacket was worn through and torn. The left elbow pad was worn almost completely through as well. I managed to get away with minor abrasions on my legs and hip. The boots saved my feet. The heavy Timberland, leather work boots had substantial rash and cuts in them.

Bike may be totalled. Looks like the rear sub-frame is bent along with your standard " bars, signals, pipes, hand and foot control, tank dent/scratch " damage.

I had the crash-wagon come just in case. I couldn't tell if I was injured or not due to the shock. I got the full treatment.....backboard and neck brace. They cut my jeans off to look at my legs. I happened to be wearing bright orange boxer briefs. They EMTS got a good kick out of that I think.

Perhaps I may be parting out the Legend soon.....time will tell.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Legend, Avatar.

I hope you checked out okay with the medics. The bike can always be repaired or replaced, but injuries can keep on giving.

ORANGE boxer-briefs? How H-D is that? *grin*

I hope everything works out right for you.

Rotten luck about the bike, Avatar, but as LegendGirl says the important thing is that you are OK. Just goes to prove how important the riding kit can be. All the best.

Sorry to hear that, Avatar. That just sucks, man.

I'm glad to see you're still here to write about it, though.

It sucks about the bike, but it's good you're OK.

Give it a couple of days and take a second look at the bike. It might not be as bad as you think.
