I am in the process of removing all the corroded chrome bits from my bike for re-conditioning. Is there any way to take the chrome bezels off the tach and speedo? They seem to be pressed on and not removable, but I didn't try real hard.

No easy way - in effect they are crimped on. Stan (sware) modified a tool to bend them out because he wanted to try to fix one of the clocks. Look up his profile for his album - think there might be pics there.

They must be pretty bad if you want to remove them? Chrome polish in situ won't work?

Only a few of my chrome bits have survived the abuse I have put this bike through in the time I've been in the Navy. No garage to put it in, long deployments with the bike parked near the okefenokee swamp, etc. I'm actually surprised that my bike still runs as well as it does. I have been keeping appearances up with a lot of polish, but some parts have less chrome than others, (like the bezels) and once the chrome is penetrated by scratches, nothing in the world will prevent zinc (turn signals, headlight ears and rear fender stays) from corroding with a quickness. My own personal survivor show, and the winners are the fake air cleaner covers and the oil filler cap. Everything else chrome (except the mufflers I replaced last year) needs help badly. I'm going to beadblast the zinc parts mentioned and give them a black powdercoat. I think it will look nice.
